How do you find rest in times of turmoil and darkness? It seems impossible to have peace when everything around you is chaotic and unsteady. I struggle to rest even on a good day, but when stressful situations come it makes things so much worse. Maybe you struggle with rest, too.
Maybe you’re feeling like everything is out of control right now and nothing seems to be helping. No amount of positive thinking, affirmations, self-care or distractions are calming your mind and heart. The things that used to give you peace aren’t enough to counteract the storm in and around you.
“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High, will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”
Could it be that when life goes awry, it comes with an invitation to seek a greater source of rest? One that’s unshaken by our circumstances but stands above it all, victorious.
There’s a verse in the Bible that says, “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High, will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” I encourage you to read Psalm 91, and explore this truth for yourself.
Jesus invites us daily to find our rest in him. The kind of peace and refreshment he offers is always available to us. We just have to choose to remain close to him.
