Are you feeling tired of the landscape of your life? Are you restless for some change? As I was sitting down to paint this morning, I sensed God wanted me to create something specific that may encourage someone.
An image of a grassy valley popped up in my mind. This beautiful scene was so vivid, and I could almost feel the warm golden light and cool breeze as if I was there. What stood out most were these bright wildflowers sprinkled all around. A rush of joy and peace washed over me.
As I started to paint, the Holy Spirit began whispering a bit about what this image represented. The thought, “A change in scenery is coming,” flashed across my mind.
I talk a lot about the wilderness on this blog because it’s a reflection of my life and faith journey lately. Maybe you’re reading this and, like me, have been in a long, difficult season of life. You’re staying close to Jesus, but where he’s been leading you isn’t looking fruitful so far.
It’s so tough sometimes to continue doing the work even when the results aren’t coming. You keep trudging along, trying not to give up, but the doubts start to creep in.
Did I hear God correctly?
Will things ever get better?
Is this all for nothing?
If you’re feeling discouraged right now, know that God is still moving. You may not know the full picture right now, but you can have faith that this isn’t the end. Though the pace may be unbearably slow, you’re making progress.
I sense that for some of us, a change in scenery is coming near. Let this image of the lush valley remind you that there is beauty blooming up ahead. Hold onto Jesus and let him lead you there.
I wanted to capture the excitement and hope of this vision, so I created an impressionist inspired painting with expressive brushstrokes. It was so fun to use a larger brush and play with bright, cheerful colors.
